In this book, George Washington's First War, David A. Clary expressed how French and Indian War influenced George Washington’s plan and leadership as a president of new United States. He reminded the reader that people are all born as a baby and they were not a great man. The author compared Washington’s leadership when he was young and after the war.

A soldier called George Washington, a 21 years old young boy who had fought in the bloodiest battle at the Ohio River. The battle did not go very good, because of his inexperienced and unskilled command. 1000 and more soldiers were killed; they killed their own people because of darkness and his command. They were defeated and they had to surrender to the French. However, this experience gave him a lesson about military skills.

Later he joined a battle with General Braddock who was having a disaster battle called Battle of Monongahela. “he summoned Washington and gave him the red sash on which he had been carried from the field, as well as a brace of pistols.” (159). This battle was not very successful and defeated by the French. Enemies were able to kill Major General Edward Braddock and two thirds of their forces. George Washington was the only soldier that was alive with horse; his horseback skill was very impressive according to Clary. He was not still experienced enough to be an awesome soldier but he still did a great job shooting with courage. George Washington was commanded to help British people from enemies. He helped people who were injured to take them back.

Clary described George Washington as a bad tempered boy. He married a woman called Mary Washington, “was a large, uneducated, frenetic woman with a foul mouth and an explosive temper; George probably inherited his own temper from her,” (9). It wasn’t only his...
