Pg 327: Definition: A continuous random variable is normally distributed, or has normal probability distribution, if the relative frequency histogram of the random variable has the shape of the normal curve.

Definition: A probability density function (pdf) is an equation used to compute probabilities of continuous random variables. It must satisfy the following two properties:

1. The total area under the graph of the equation over all possible values of the random variable must equal 1.

2. The height of the graph of the equation must be greater or equal to 0 for all possible values of the random variable. That is, the graph of the equation must lie on or above the horizontal axis for all possible values of the random variable.;

 

Z-score: The z-score represents the distance that a data value is from the mean in terms of the number of standard deviations.

z-score says, any data value is how many standard deviation away of the mean.
