Title
The name of the story is The Book Thief, the title of the book is very significant
to the story because the protagonist Liesel Meminger was in fact a book
thief. Stealing books became what made Liesel who she was, her bravery and
determination never once faded throughout the book. Soon she became known
to other people as a book thief as well. Through the many hardships she faced
obtaining books were something that she really treasured and they also brought her

The author of the novel is Markus Zusak. He was born in Sydney Australia and

are that Mark has trouble writing an autobiography because he doesn’t find

book did get published in 1999 not to long after that he became of the hottest

Context/setting
The context of this book is very important to the story. The book takes
during the time of the holocaust in Germany. When we first start reading
The Book Thief we are introduced to our narrator death. Death being the
narrator puts an interesting perspective on the book.
