Abstract
The existing train network in Mumbai is for connecting northern and southern parts of the city. Mumbai Metro brings about a change by introducing connectivity between the eastern and western parts of the city. This is done in order to meet the current needs and future demands of the passengers in this city. This 146 km long ‘Mumbai Metro One’ project is the first development of MRTS – Mass Rapid Transit System, taken up by Maharashtra government with MMRDA – Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. Under this project, we shall study about the feasibility study, various needs assessment at different stages, the master plan, construction in different phases, the finances involved and future perspectives of the Mumbai Metro.
