HISTORY

Tony Hsieh is an astounding gifted internet entrepreneur. He is the CEO of an online shoe and clothing company called Zappos. Zappos is an online shoe and clothing store based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Hsieh was born in Illinois, but later moved to California and grew up there. He is a computer science graduate from Harvard University and a millionaire entrepreneur. His adventure started at Harvard by being a manager of a pizza company selling to students in dorm. This is where his mind began to flourish.

After completing his studies at Harvard, he began working for Oracle Corporation, while working their he found his employment was not satisfying and had thirst for more. He later cofounded an advertising company called Link Exchange and later sold it to Microsoft for over $200 million. He then went to another adventure called Venture Frogs where he was cofounder as well. Nick Swinmurn approached Mr. Hsieh with the idea of selling shoes online and this is where his adventure began and Zappos.com was born (Zappos, 2014). He is famous for creating a business that is profitable and a fun place to work. He has a unique style of leading his company’s culture by motivating them to provide great customer service. Under his reign as CEO, Zappos’ official corporate goals are to “create fun and a little weirdness.” It is consistently ranked among the best US companies to work for.” (Corbett, 2014).

What Zappos is doing really well is implementing and practicing their ten core values. Zappos core value stand apart from other companies because it creates a structure for the company’s actions. They strive to maintain long-term customer relationships. Transparency is a major factor in Zappos by keeping employees informed.
