Promotion is the valuable business method to approach and communicate with the customers (The time 100) . It provides the genuine, additional and original information involved in the products and brand-name to assist the clients make purchasing decision. It means that which firm could identify the "vantage point" in promotion will reach the initial objective thanks to customers' recognition.

Difference from other previous markets where the expansion of economies are significantly stable but relatively difficult to dominate them such as Europe, China, Japan, Korea and some prominent nations in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand or Malaysia...), Vietnam is considered as a dynamic, potential and particularly "received" country. However, the standard of living is a enormous barrier, so Vietnam has become a difficult investment market in the majority of luxurious products and services. Consequently, Starbucks chose the first temporary marketing strategy which was word of mouth when it emphasized the curiosity, imported the "luxurious and arrogant life style" along with "generous service" into Vietnam - a market is acquainted with sidewalk coffee and implement "strange tastes".

Starbucks could not depend on the trend and domino effect from the primary successes of an illustrious brand and recent universal name. Therefore, to dominate the market and compete with other affluent opponents like Highlands coffee, Gloria Jeans' coffee and Trung Nguyen coffee. There is no lack of modes in brand promotion such as advertising, public relations, sales promotion, personal selling, direct mail, internet marketing, sponsorship, message and media play and the product life circle but taking advantages of them is a serious question.
