Your first assignment is to write a a short (300 word) letter to Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins, addressing the issue of whether or not the Redskins should change their name.

Whichever stance you choose you need to be clear about the issue you are addressing (don’t assume the reader knows why you are writing to them), your stance on the issue, and the support you provide for your position. As this is a business class and you are directing your letter to a business owner, it is important that you approach this from a business perspective.

Additionally, you should consider audience, purpose, language and tone, and the conventions of the genre.

What you will submit:

Your letter will be submitted as a traditional word document to your TA at the beginning of your second writing lab (Sept 3rd or 4th, depending on when your section meets).
