Based on my input in the discussion board, my favorite grocery store is Giant Eagle. There are several ways I see them creating value for customers and below are the most relevant elements from my understanding.

Research Customers & Market Place : Understanding customer needs is always critical to sustain the changing market place. Curb-side pick up is one the recent initiatives of Giant Eagle that shows one the best value creating process for masses who are short of time. In the current day to day scenario people value time and the idea of ordering your stuff on-line is hands down the best deal that Giant Eagle is offering. It segments the new-age customers who are students, mothers and very well caters to their needs.

Decide On a Value Proposition: Giant Eagle very well fulfills the value proposition point. It satisfies the needs of the customers and delivers the benefits and values it promises. Giant Eagle offers everyday price investments, seasonal low-price lock campaigns, and great weekly specials which are some the examples of their commitment to value proposition. Giant Eagle has a strong value proposition that gives them the greatest advantage and stands firm in the target market.

Pricing: Giant Eagle offers a large variety of products and brands. One can choose an article from large pool of brands and according to their suited price range. As mentioned in the book, there are four different relationship groups based on the potential profitability and loyalty: strangers, butterflies, true friends and barnacles. And Giant Eagle serves very well to all the four groups. It offers its own brand, named as Giant Eagle, which offers low prices when compared with others. I buy many products from the stores brand and it not only keeps the taste buds happy it keeps my wallet happy too.
