Introduction

A public relations campaign is a planned, coordinated, purposeful effort that takes place over a certain period of time with its objective to usually change or maintain behavior of public (Newsom, 2013). PR campaign is series of unified activities and messages, delivered to relevant publics by a variety of means. The PR activities campaign is intended to inform, educate, or persuade those publics to buy, use or support something. The publics are group of people with similar characteristics that help an organization or agency to communicate the messages. The present discussion it to analyze a PR campaign that was conducted for a candidate it the last presidential election.

PR Campaign and Strategy

The most recent presidential election in USA had taken place in the year 2012. President Barack Obama had strategically implemented PR campaign and achieved success in his presidential re-election. Barack Obama had demonstrated to the people that the opponent Mitt Romney was an obstruction and portrayed himself as the remedy for solving the tough economic issues in United States. The videos of PR campaigns of Obama are simple and natural which are communicated to public through social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube. These videos were friendly in nature and encouraged the people to share with other. It is evident that Obama had used the internet technology for effective public relations. Obama had given interviews to television channels to communicate the message that US is against the terrorism and getting recovered from the recession.
