Executive Summary

This paper is designed to consider, evaluate and analyse the evolution of management through leadership which goes back as far as mankind has existed, linking through to modern day human resource management. This study will look at the current modern thoughts on human resource management and the use of leadership techniques in modern day business. Using selected theories and text from leading figures in this field we will look at the evolution of management, beginning with the classical management school and ending with the human resource school. We will explore modern leadership theories and how they can be traced back in antiquity.
