AUSTRALIA

In the late twentieth century when close ties within states is necessary for a nation to survive, can you imagine if Australia never became a Federation? The six states that the nation now comprises of would have been thriving independently in “their own right, with their own defense forces, postal services, passports, currencies, and national TV stations” (Irving 1). It would have also introduced issues like poverty among smaller states, and the gap between the services and the ‘social wage’ between the larger and smaller states would have been far greater. The Australian states would have been nothing less than what New Zealand is to Australia in terms of being attached by mutual schemes and a common history. This would not have been feasible in this generation thus the formation of a Federation by all six colonies, as they were formerly called; joining forces including a national Parliament which led to a sense of nationalism was not predictable. The nation as a whole had to go through harsh difficulties and complex processes in order to create the Commonwealth of Australia which came to be known as Australia.

Australia is a land of great adventure, hospitality, enticing culture and a hot pot for some of the most developed resources. It is in the southern hemisphere and makes up for the world’s smallest continent. It was initially inhabited by 250 individual nations of indigenous Australians. After its discovery by the Dutch explorers in 1606, the eastern half of Australia was claimed by the British in 1770. The first colony to arise was New South Wales and eventually, five other self-governing Crown colonies were created.
