Domestic violence against women

“The Government defines domestic violence as "Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality" (NHS Barking and Dagenham, par.1)”. Violence against women as actions which cause suffering to women and children, where those carrying out the actions are mainly men and where women and children are the victims. The different forms of violence against women are emotional, psychological, sexual and physical abuse. A recent survey conducted in Albany Creek revealed that 60% of respondents agree, and 14% strongly agree that domestic violence is an increasing problem in society (Albany Creek, par.2). In the world today we encounter numerous crimes and conflict in our society. This action result from the aggressiveness of human beings and their bitterness in life. Domestic Violence is not new event, we always hear it from the radio or see it in television the different cases, is a much more serious problem than is commonly thought due to unawareness of legal provisions for women even among the well educated women. Opponents believe that domestic violence against women is normal.

First, domestic violence is caused by the low education. There is a robust relationship between the level of education of a woman and partner violence. “Previous studies show that women with less education are twice more likely to experience violence from intimate partners than women with more education” (Abuya, Onsomu, Dakysha & Piper, par.7). Recent research shows women who had primary and secondary education were more likely to experience abuse physical, emotional, or sexual in nature compared to women with postsecondary education.
