KUYANG: Food Trip ng Pinoy

It was a couple of years ago when the business-minded couple—Lyle and Jane de Leon—created their first food truck, Kuyang, which offers classic Filipino food in the form of rice toppings. They initially catered to students around the Katipunan area, and the duo had fun manning the truck while it was still gaining ground. They didn’t have any crew, just a driver. It was the couple doing all the food prep, cooking and everything in between. Kuyang’s is gradually becoming a household name with its affordable rice toppings such as the Liempo Meal and Lechon Kawali Meal, both bestsellers. Other items on the menu are the traditional Tapa Meal, Chicken Longga Meal, Barbecue Meal, Hotdog Meal, and there’s also a Tenga Meal. 

GUACTRUCK

Guactruck is the first and, so far, only full-fledged mobile eatery in Manila, according to founders Michealle Lee and Natassha Chan. The distinctive, mustachioed truck offers affordable, well-made, Mexican-inspired Filipino dishes, with quick service in easily accessible locations, ideal for office workers with short lunch breaks. Guactruck features good design, with a cozy interior that makes it look more like a home than a truck; a 100% local origin, as everything from the truck to the food to the packaging all coming from Manila; and sustainability—concern for the environment is reflected in the materials Guactruck uses, as well as in a loyalty program that rewards customers when they return their packaging to Guactruck.

HUNGRY ROVER

Hungry Rover serves Pinoy comfort food from a customized coaster with a kitchen and dining area inside (good for 6-8 people). This food truck is conceptualized by Romeo Nacpil Jr. with his UST friend Josef Acuña. They assembled a team with various expertise to support their food truck business:
