Police officers have a duty to protect and serve the community. With their job comes hazards but also some satisfaction. Some hazards that come with the duty of being a police officer include being shot at which could result in death, car chases that could end up deadly, and fights with criminals that could possibly have weapons. Some satisfactions of being a police officer include helping out victims of those hurt by criminals, saving lives, and just getting criminals off the streets and keeping the community safe.

What is the goal or purpose behind your proposed research?

The purpose of this research is to determine the satisfactions and the hazards that come with working as a police officer. Sometimes, I think people go into the job force because they don’t necessarily need a college education, just a high school education. With that being said, police officers do not get paid near as much as those jobs that require a college education, even if they are putting their life on the line. It is somewhat like the military, but it seems they do a little less with the training than the military does. I also think that people go into the force because they consider themselves authority, and want people to bow down to them. That is not what a police officer should do, and is not part of the job. A police officer is to serve and protect the community he or she patrols, but to also try and stay as safe as possible. There are criminals who hate all authority and will do anything in their power to take them down, even if it means them dying too. So, the research entails advantages and disadvantages of working as a police officer.
