Role and Fuctions of Law Paper

Laws contribute significant roles within businesses and society in many ways. Without logical rules set in place the world as we know would be in a complete uproar (Melvin, 2011). Crimes will go unsolved, criminals would walk free, and violence would break out everywhere if laws were not enforced. I will also discuss the functions and role of law in my present job, which is a supervisor in retail.

Laws are implemented to control unwanted situations for a business and society as a whole (Melvin, 2011). They are there to prevent misunderstandings and miscommunications. Laws are set in companies for the sole propose to set order (Hamel, n.d.). Regulating rules prevents situations where individuals may feel if they are getting taken advantage of or treated unfairly. Business laws also prevent false advertising on various outlets, such as television, billboards, newspapers, magazine, and the Internet (Melvin, 2011). Take Boost Mobile, for example. They are currently advertising a free month of service or a free phone (up to 100 dollars) if you sign up for Boost as a new customer. The point is if the company does not honor their advertisement they are liable for false advertisement. If businesses did not function with rules and laws it would go under eventually. If there were not rules, companies would fight over power and try to overtake the next business. It would be a constant war between companies until one gives up (Hamel, n.d.). The more money a company has, the better off the company has to survive a lawless society.

In order for society to operate efficiently, laws need to be implemented so they can regulate social behaviors. Requirements set standards for what to expect while providing order. When the laws a properly functioning correctly it promotes economic growth, social justice, and allows people to monitor negativity early on (Melvin, 2011).
