Executive Summary
My decision is to implement a strategic plan over the course of two years to replace all DOS (disc operating system) operating terminals at our stores with up to date terminals with a newer operating system that is both user friendly, cost effective and up to date. This is a decision that is based solely on the simple fact that DOS is obsolete, and the risk involved with continuing on using this system could potentially far outweigh the rewards.
Over a period of two years all stores bearing the Zara name will be outfitted with the most up to date point of sale operating system driven by the most current and innovative operating system on the market today. Through an outsourcing effort that will allow for competitive bids I will invite all major programming firms to submit a request for proposal to outline their product and show how it can benefit Zara and our IT needs.
It can be said that the implementation of a new operating system will not hinder Zara’s current way of doing business, but will make the company more versatile. Making our stores more streamline as well as beyond our potential in not only our unique clothing designs, our stores will also be the most innovative in IT as well.
This new strategy will be implemented as a trial run from a location that is suitable to Zara. This decision will be based on ease of servicing and monitoring, along with store capabilities. This new system will allow for real time updates from stores...
