Organizing Jen Electric

Jen Electric LLC. is a multimillion dollar organization that operates and provides construction and maintenance services across the United States. In each state of operation, Jen Electric employs anywhere from 200 to 1,000 employees. Within this paper Jen Electric will be evaluated on its organizing function of management as it relates to human resources, knowledge, and physical assets within one state. Jen Electric is a centralized organization in which most of the important decisions are made by the top managers. Occasionally there are situations that pose explicit time constraints and must be made by the highest ranking individual present. Many of these decisions are because of the integration aspect of Jen employees coordinating with other companies involved in construction to accomplish tasks. Coordination with other companies on projects requires that Jen Electric operate efficiently in the management of human resources, knowledge, and physical assets.

Human Resources

Most projects that Jen Electric performs begins with a specific starting point and a specific ending goal. The types of jobs that Jen Electric does is full construction called ground ups and tenant improvement. Tenant improvement means the building already exists and only retains the basic interior requirements. The interior requirements are a centralized power box and a sprinkler system. This means that everything else must be finished, built, or brought in. Each project goes through around three stages that challenge the management of human resources, knowledge, and physical assets. The first stage requires maybe one or two individuals who are highly qualified.
