Abstract

The USA comprises of a culturally diverse society with many races and ethnic groups. This is highly attributable to the fact that the USA is the most preferred destination by immigrants in the world as they move in such for more opportunities and wages. This has led to considerable changes in the demographics of United States being witnessed in the recent past. Subsequently, public opinion in the United States is now comprised of mixed feelings. Opinion is divided between welcoming increased diversity and shunning it by tightening the immigration policy. U.S. immigrants are often discriminated against by Native Americans. This is witnessed in housing and job segregation and further reinforced by media content broadcast for news and entertainment. This is further aggravated by language barrier. This research paper focuses on diversity caused by immigrants in USA and its effects on the American population. It casts scope on how the media perpetuates stereotyping and prejudice. It then proceeds to suggest ways of fostering a climate of acceptance and cultural pluralism in USA and in particular; it examines possible roles of individuals in bringing about inclusive diversity. This research paper will examine data from secondary sources of information.
