Culture in Working Conditions

There are many different types of professions out in the world that can require the need of other cultures. In order to work together they must learn about one another, and they must learn how to work together. You may see this in working for the prison system. The reason this is said is because there are many different types of people from different areas and beliefs that are incarcerated.

In the prison you have people from different cultures and religious beliefs that are incarcerated. Therefore it is beneficial to have different types of cultures to be employed there as well. The reason for this to be beneficial is they can help the other employees understand why they may react to certain things in certain ways. All employees will have the same type of training in the field. They will just be aware of the different things that they may encounter while working in the prison. By maintaining up to date training can be beneficial in this field. In this you will be refreshed on how to keep yourself from falling into an offenders “game.”

There are many reasons why it is important to learn about cultural diversity in the criminal justice system. One is so that you can keep an open mind. Just because we do not deem it to be ethical does not mean that it is not ethical in another culture. People are constantly brought together in meetings, public places and other events. Do people still stereotype? Yes, they do stereotype. Instead of assuming that because a person is from a certain region and this is how you think they are you could be wrong.

People are quick to judge a person by how they look or carry themselves. When in all actuality we could probably learn a lot from one another if we just took the time to do so. Some people will teach you freely about their cultural background, some will assume you already know about it, and others do not...
