In this case study we look into issues involving a system conversion within a company called Midsouth Chamber of Commerce (MSCC). The Vice President of Marketing, Leon Lassiter finds himself in a situation because he had promised results by March 2006 of the completion of the conversion. By late September the project is nowhere near to completion and his Systems Analyst, Kovecki, seems to be uncooperative and seeking employment elsewhere. What can be done to fix this issue?

The MSCC formed in the early 1900s to lobby legislature on the issue of transportation access. Many communities in the Midsouth area during these times were left without access to reasonable transportation services due to legislative decisions. The MSCC was formed to give the people that voice.

By the early 2000s the MSCC had grown to be considered the most powerful business advocacy organization in the Midsouth area and one of the most innovative chambers of commerce in terms of its approaches and techniques in dealing with problems facing the business community. The biggest problem being that the growth could no longer be funded by the operating budget.

Leon Lassiter came into the company to help fix this situation. He reviewed all programs, departments, and processes. He found that the information system was limited in capability and decided it was due for an upgrade.

From what I gather out of reading the case study, Lassiter, did not properly plan this conversion. During the conversion there was an extensive time that the marketing staff was unable to work. Data had become corrupted in the workstations causing functions to be handled manually. Lassiter did not get the cooperation from personnel that he expected to get during this conversion.
