Alcohol and Drugs Abuse Policy
Marathon Petroleum Company uses two separate guidelines to come up with the policy that governs alcohol and drug abuse among the employees.
Strengths
1.The policy starts off with a clear definition of the terms used to describe the policy. In addition, this policy is precise and related to the objectives of the company.
Weakness
because the main method of testing is random testing which usually uses a computer program to select individuals who will be tested.
Smoking Policy
This policy is formulated to minimize exposure to tobacco smoke to non-smokers and also for the purpose of conforming to the public laws.
Strengths
The policy is reasonable, and it is capable of being accomplished. And the policy is definite, clear, and precise as to what it entails.
Weaknesses
The policy is weak as it does not allow for periodic review, considering that such review is vital for any HR policy.
Weapons Policy
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that Marathon Petroleum Corporation is a safe and productive environment for all workers by prohibiting possession of weapons in the workplace.
Strengths
The policy starts off with a definition of terms so that all the employees can understand it and The policy also is clear on the disciplinary action that will befall those who violate the guidelines.
Weaknesses
The policy does not specifically outline the degree of discipline for the kind of weapon found within the premises. For instance, if a company employee is found with explosives, it is unclear if he or she gets the same disciplinary action as a person who is found with a knife.
