Environmental Policy

An environmental policy is a statement that will show what our business’s aims and principles are concerning the managing of our environmental effects, the aspect of our operations, and the ability to become a sustainable company for generation to come. We have written an environmental policy for the SC Johnson company, which will show how and why we feel so strongly in making the world a better and cleaner place for our families, our customers, and our communities. We will hope that in writing such a statement that we will become a leader and a model for other companies to help us in the fight against protecting the earth and all of us who share it.

As stated by Michael Michalko, “Your intention creates your thoughts, thoughts become your words, words become your actions, actions become your habits, habits become your character, and your character becomes your destiny” (Burkhardt, V., 2007)

We, SC Johnson, as a family owned business will use the values of integrity, respect, fairness, and trust; that we were have built on since 1886 to continuously develop and improve on our products and the way we run our factories to make sure we are a sustainable company and proved safe products for our employees, customers, and the environment (SC Johnson & Son, Inc.-1, 2010). We will follow all the EPA guidelines and laws that apply to us and our products and will strive to go above and beyond what is expected of us. We will ensure that we have an open relationship so that all measures of improvements are made available to employees, customers and the community on products and procedures that may affect their health and safety (CalRecycle, 2010). Our guiding principle as stated by Herbert F. Johnson Sr. is, “The goodwill of the people is the only enduring thing in business, it is the sole substance; the rest is shadow.” (SC Johnson & Sons, Inc.-1, 2010)
