A business that contributes towards the well-being of the community in which it operates is said to be socially responsible. It’s an attitude that every business should adopt so to make a positive impact on the all its stakeholders

A. Evaluate Company Q’s current attitude toward social responsibility.

Every business has a responsibility towards the community around where it operates .It is an ethical act for a business to contribute towards the well-being of the community by providing employment to the members of the community, protecting the environment and advancing consumer wellness and health (Lee & Kotler, 2013). Company Q has gone completely contrary to the principles of social responsibility. The company has shown a negative, uncaring and irresponsible attitude by closing the grocery stores when the community needs its services. The company demonstrates distrust of its employees and a lack of empathy for the patrons of the food bank in justifying its response. It is due to such an attitude, that they recently have had to close a few stores .They are not acting like good corporate citizens, and it’s possible that the employees as well customers are affected by such attitude.

B. Recommend three actions That Company Q could take to improve the company’s attitude toward social responsibility.

The company closed down stores in an area where its customers needed its services. In as much as the stores were reported to have constantly losses, closing down was not the best alternative that the company should have considered. The management should have come up with possible solutions to the problem instead of evading the social responsibility it has towards the community a within its area of operation. Closing down left the former employees without jobs, the customers have lost their neighborhood grocery. This proves their social...
