Introduction
Faith Integration is concerned with integral relationships between faith and knowledge, the relationships which inherently exist between the content of the faith and the subject-matter of this or that discipline (Hasker, 1991). Running a corporation can be very stressful at times. Even though it is very important for the business to focus on earning money for the business and it shareholders, it is also important to make sure this is done with the honor of God in mind. Proverbs 3:9-10 says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce, then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine (ESV). This paper will discuss functions of financial markets and intermediaries and how it relates to Christians.
Functions of Financial Markets and Intermediaries
Banks, building societies and insurance companies are examples of financial intermediaries. “Financial markets and intermediaries provide financing for business” (Brealey, Myers, & Marcus, 2012). They offer a service to help an individual/firm to save or borrow money. Abundance of cash or lack thereof is sometime considered the key principal in determining the success of a company. How a company is financed affects everything from ability to staff employees to expanding and developing the company. God created the foundations of finance and commands us to use finance for good, specifically for stewardship, justice, and love (Van Drunen, 2014). When deciding to do business with a financial intermediary, it is important to choice one that has the same biblical views you have when it comes to finances. The last thing you want to do is to do business with an entity that strives on greed and being dishonest.
