Professional wages

How would you like to be paid millions of dollars a year? How about make thousands of dollars per week? And all you do is play a professional sport. Now a day's, sporting events have grown to become the center of the population's attention, it seems to be what we predominantly see on the television screen. Whether it’s football on sundays, boxing on fridays, or any other sport throughout the week. Sports have the tendency to bring people of all kinds together no matter their social class, gender, age, or race. All of the people are there for the same reason, to see their favorite team win or just there to have fun. However, with this entertainment, comes controversy. I am talking about the total income that professional athletes receive which has been debated amongst opinionated fans, dedicated reporters and analysts, agents, and even the players themselves.

It is well known that the professional athletes here in the United States are without a doubt the greatest on earth, and that their salaries do so reflect their greatness, but should that be a problem just because they are making much more money than the rest of us? Do they really deserve that money? If you ask me, I would lean towards saying they do not but ultimately I will say they do, and will explain further on and will try to justify my reasoning behind my decision.

In today’s society, it is known that the professional athlete brings home a bigger paycheck than any average working American. Thus, bringing up the controversy. People question how does playing a game attribute to such a high salary when a job of higher importance pays much less. Some would believe that athletes are undeserving of their contracts and that they get paid a ridiculous amount of money. They also may say that it is wrong for them to receive a greater paycheck than firefighters, doctors, and the people who risk their lives and save the lives of others every day.
