Public Health Overview
When asked what public health is, there are many definition’s that comes to mind. Public health encourages and looks after the healthiness of individuals and the group of people wherever they live, study, labor, and performance. Public health has been around for thousands of years. There are many historical development milestones in public health. Public health milestones date as far back as the 1700’s. There are many different careers that fall under public health. To just name a couple of careers that would fall under public health is Public health nurses and Health educators.
Public Health
Public health is the knowledge of defending and educating the health of families and communities through the advancement of a healthy standard of living, research for disease and injury avoidance and recognition and control of infectious diseases. Overall, public health is concerned with defending the health of entire populations. These populations can be as minor as a local community, or as big as a whole country or region of the world. An enormous part of public health is supporting healthcare equity, worth and ease of understanding. “The basic skill for all involved in public health is a thorough understanding of the principles of epidemiology that provides tools to understand disease patterns, risk factors, and the outcomes of prevention and treatment activities.” (Binns & Low, 2015).
Historical Development
There are many historical development milestones within public health. These milestones date back as early as the 1700’s. In 1798, the Marine Hospital Facility was well-known by an act of Legislature, to offer on behalf of the short-term assistance and care of sickening and incapacitated men.
