Abstract

David Wheeler and Vernon Whaley through this book titled “The great Commission to Worship” addressed many of the common misconceptions regarding the issue of evangelism and worship within the church of God. One of the various misconceptions regarding these two brought to light in this book is the misconception that evangelism is more important than worship and vice versa. Before actually reaching a consensus to write this book, Wheeler and Vernon have many times engaged in argument on these two and through the help of the Holy Spirit, they were able to conclude in one simple statement that “The only thing more important than evangelism is worship, and the only thing more important than worship is evangelism.”

As noted by these authors, many of the Christians today still hold the belief that evangelism and worship are two separate entities. However, as a Great commission worshipper, a Christian finds himself in a position where he takes a holistic approach to the two after being totally and equally committed to both evangelism and worship. This statement further answers the question of which one is more important and to be a Great commission worshipper is to obey both the Great commission and Great commandment.
