Analyze the changes and continuities in labor systems between 1750-1914 in ONE of the following areas. In your analysis, be sure to discuss the causes of the changes and the reasons for the continuities in Latin America.

Between 1750 and 1914 labor systems in Latin America and the Caribbean shifted dramatically but also core aspects of it remained the same. In the late 19th century slavery was abolished leading to the need for labor and workers to fuel the industry of Latin America. Also labor shifted to wage based factories and away from plantation work which caused a change economically leading to more money in the lower and middle class and less in the middle and elite class. Even though there was much change a key aspect that remained the same. Labor systems during this time in Latin America were largely focused on the production of agriculture, specifically sugar and coffee. Additionally the labor systems remained the same because of their dependence on Europe and its need for raw materials and food for its growing population.

Analyze changes and continuities in long-distance migrations in the period from 1700 to 1900. Be sure to include specific examples from at least TWO different world regions.

Between 1700 and 1900 there were many changes in long distance migration, as well as aspects of migration that remained the same. During this time period, long distance migrations from the east, like Europe and Africa, to the America’s remained the same. While this remained constant, changes during the time period occurred in the people migrating due to slave trade across the Atlantic being banned. Also this became an opportunity for people from places other than Africa to migrate to the Americas. The changes in long-distance migrations of this time period occurred because of the movement in Europe to end slave trade in Africa.
