Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application that allows you to store, organize and analyze information, developed by Microsoft for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Applications. It has been a very widely applied spreadsheet for these platforms, especially since version 5 in 1993, and it has replaced Lotus 1-2-3 as the industry standard for spreadsheets. 1. The default file title is Book1. After the file has been saved for the first time, the file name in the Title Bar will update to reflect the change.
Tip: If the window is restored down to midsize screen view, you can move the reduced screen around your desktop view by:
1) Place the curser right on the center of the title.
2) Left click and hold the button down while you move the entire mouse to select a new screen position.

2. The command ribbon Tabs hold groups of commands. The Home tab has the most commonly used commands. When a new tab is clicked, new commands will be visible on the ribbon.
3. The Quick Access Toolbar is where shortcut to commands can be found for easier access.
4. Groups are similar commands collected together in one area. The lines between the groups designate the separation from each other.
5. The Dialog Box Launcher opens a new window with more command options.
