Enterprise Architecture is important to understand from its origins, Architecture. Architecture within the information technology stack can be traced back to the lessons of learning actual architecture, which is the design, details, and functions of buildings, structures, public spaces, and infrastructure (Shepheard, 1994). Architecture in the sense of Enterprise Architecture is considered the design visualization, details, and functions in which is essentially a blueprint of an organization’s technical infrastructure involving processes, people, and technology and details how they will function and interact with each other. Architecture is an enabler of construction, in which it defines the principles, rules, standards and guidelines, communicating a vision (Architecture, 2014). The enterprise architecture model will help organizations understand changes proposed in services, infrastructure, and processes that are to be changed or implemented within an organizational environment.

Enterprise Architecture is what an organization uses to determine how it will achieve its current and future objectives in a manner of effectiveness and efficiency. The enterprise architecture is split into four viewpoints of which are business, application, information and technology. The business viewpoint is the identification of processes and standards that organizations function with every day. The application viewpoint is the collaboration between different processes and standards in effect within an organization. The information viewpoint is the assembly of raw data into presentable formats such as presentations, databases, spreadsheets, and dashboards.
