Research Paper
I decided to choose the artwork that Jacinio Guevara 2014 drew it. The materials of the
artwork are acrylic and oil on gessoed wood panel. It looks like calm and profound. This
artwork is one-point perspective. It has a street light, a man playing the accordion, several
buildings and a telephone pole.
In my opinion, I think the artist want to express a lonely feeling and silence environment
to the audience, because in the dark night, there are no stars hanging in the sky, with a
streetlight on, a man standing in the corner of the artwork. The colors of the artwork are
cool colors. This shows a feeling from the artist and I can feel the mood of the artist. The
main parts of the artwork are the buildings, and they occupy the one third of the artwork.
Most of the shapes are geometric. The lines in this artwork are simple and it is not
complex to draw the buildings and pores even the man. This artwork is not in a big size
and I think it is in an appropriate size in the museum. The upper half is pained about the
sky and the rest of it is building and floor. The right of the building has brighter color than
that of left.
I like the color in this artwork. The darker color is in the left part of the artwork. There is
a man standing in the dark night even a streetlight on. Although the right part is brighter,
there is nothing except a telephone pole. No body is in the right of the artwork, but this
part is brighter than the left, I think this is an interesting thing to me. The whole artwork’s
color the artist wants to express to the audience is soft and calm. Also, the artist doesn’t
want to show much about the person.
Overall, every element is harmony in the artwork. The lines are soft and simple and this
artwork painted care much more in color than the lines. All the lines are straight lines,
such as building, telephone pole and streetlight.
I think the artist want to express his feeling by the artwork to the audience. A silent dark
night...
