As answer to society’s major environmental issue; a Biodegradable Plastic Project aims to lessen the production and use of non-biodegradable ones.

Being durable and elastic, plastics are widely used for major product packaging material.

Studies have showed that materials used in making plastics may cause allergic reactions and cellulose which is a major ingredient for plastic-making, is a biodegradable product which are readily attacked by bacteria.

Glycerol is the simplest dihydric alcohol, called glycerin in commercial form.

Biodegradable but retaining its good quality is the aim of the said research project.

This project is inspired by many factors including the need of biodegradable products to help the environment cope up with the societal needs, the range of wastes in a community and discovery of materials available on our households.

This research is an improvement of a previous project whereas the researchers used potato peels, but as further researches were being made, other root crops are also able to be used as a major ingredient for the project.
