Roles and Functions Paper
Health care managers are responsible for the proper functioning of a facility, yet there are several different aspects to a manager’s job that blend together to help the manager achieve his or her goal in having a well operated facility. Organization, planning, leading and controlling are the foundation of a health care manager’s role. Each one of these aspects fit together in order to ensure the manager succeeds in developing a strong facility, yet planning can be one of the most important stones used to pave the way to success
Ultimately a manager needs to have all four aspects in order to attain success in his or her facility yet without a plan for a goal in mind there cannot be any organization , which also goes hand in hand with being able to lead and control the staff to the appropriate and desired outcome. “Planning is the process of setting performance objectives and determining what actions should be taken to accomplish them. Through planning, a manager identifies desired work results, makes decisions, and lays the path
for others to achieve the results.” (Lombardi & Schermerhorn, 2007. P17. ¶ 2).
I would like to develop stronger management concepts from this class. “Any organization, whether new or old, whether small or big need to run smoothly and achieve the goals and objectives which it has set forth. For this they had developed and implemented their own management concepts.” (Pakhare, 2010). I have ideas of what needs to happen inside an organization, how staff and clients alike should be treated and what I would like to incorporate into a facility in order to ensure greater success, yet at the same time I lack the knowledge on how to bring all these elements together in a well organized manner or how to properly enforce roles.
