Emerging Technologies

Emerging technologies are new technologies that are still developing or will be developed over the next five to ten years. These technologies will substantially alter the business and social environment (Business Dictionary). The three technologies that I believe to have the largest impact over the next 10 to 20 years include driverless cars, artificial uterus, and 3D printing.

Driverless cars have been highly talked about for quite some time. It is only a matter of years before it comes into effect. Due to a large number of fatalities and motor accidents, driverless cars could remove the human error element (Yutree). Autonomous vehicle technology is said to still be developing, but so far, the following elements are being incorporated: Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane departure warning systems, active cruise control, and automated parking. Although insurance premiums may arise, liability will decrease and could transfer from the human to the manufacturer. If the owner of the vehicle is not driving, should they be held responsible? This will need to be decided by the insurance companies. Although there has been great progress, there are still issues at hand that have to be determined before the driverless car hits the market.

With this new technology, more women...
