Introduction to Research Study Design

In this paper I would like to summarize the juvenile delinquency causes roots and control. Also, I would like to discuss the effects in the society, analyze some statistics and show how the differential association theory of Edwin Sutherland is relate to this behavior in order to meet the requirements for the next two upcoming individual projects. Following with the annotated bibliographies used in my research. I will begin to define Juvenile delinquency as actions that violate the law, committed by individuals under the statutory age of majority. This usually occurs between individual’s ages of 10 and 18. The crimes or actions committed by these individuals are called delinquent acts. In recent studies we can see an increase in violent crimes such as murders and robbery with a weapon by youths. Many of those actions related to drugs, gangs or both.

The courts classified two groups of juvenile delinquent: the status offender and the delinquent offender. The delinquent offender is the individual who committed an act that is crime for adults under federal, state or local law. For example, murder, stolen a car drugs dealings, etc. The status offender is the youth who committed an illegal act. For example, vandalism, shoplifting, drinking alcohol, etc. There is many sociological, biological and psychological theories applicable to the study of the juvenile delinquency in society. The perspective sees like the family and the environment in the childhood have a big influence in those behaviors. Studies confirmed that one of five delinquent got arrested under 18 years of age. Every year the number of arrests increase and female more than the double.

According to my research, each state manage the juvenile delinquency differently. Only two percent of the arrests are placed in state institutions. The important fact is that prevention reduce delinquency more than the...
