There were many technical writing errors in the business correspondences we gathered. The most common errors present in the 5 business correspondence were:
* Format
The business letters we had doesn’t follow the proper format of a business letter. The heading doesn’t have an inside address and date. They used a semi-colon instead of colon when ending salutations.
* Typos, grammar
Spelling errors and doubtful usage of english words were also common in the business correspondences we had gathered.
* Usage of wordy phrases/old-fashioned statements
We had noticed these erros when checking the letters/forms we had. They tend to be redundant in expressing their thoughts or asking for help.
* Sexist terms.
One of the most frequent errors found in the business correspondence we had gathered.
As for the uncommon errors, these were the usage of :
* 2nd person view
We noticed that the business correspondence we gathered, address themselves when writing sentences in a 2nd person point of view instead of a 3rd person point of view.
* Nominalizations,
There were instances were the used of words ending in “tion” in the business correspondence we gathered.
* Redundancies and,
Some words were actually being repeated in the same business correspondence which made the thing totally redundant.
* Usage of long complex words and
There were instances where the business correspondence we gathered used technical words which we deemed too technical for us to understand.
To resolve these frequent and uncommon errors, we suggest that they hire a technical writing expert to fix these documents. Another solution is to educate the staffs in the office about proper technical writing via books or the internet. Although it would require effort on their part, it would save them money from hiring a writing expert. Next solution is to consult any of...
