In doing some research on the web , I found several different switches . They have differences of quality and of price and features. Out of three I chose the first one it is from (Dalco Electronics),(Dalco.com)it is a( Cisco ) (SF100D-05) it is priced at $28.39.It has 5 ports and it has fast Ethernet as well as it wall mountable and has a 12v dc input .The second one I chose was a Linksys se3005 it is listed on (Frys.com) it is listed at $45.00 and has a speed of 10/100/1000 it sits on the desk top. It also has power save tech that detects unused ports. The third one i chose is listed on, (Mouser Electronics), ( Mouser.com).It is a phoenix contact. It is Ethernet and fiber optic capable. It is priced at $99.00 .There are several network adapters listed online .The first one I chose is a portable network adapter made by (V.top) it is listed on (Gearbest.com)it is priced at $15.64 it supports 10mbps and 100 mbps ,1000mbps and supports both full duplex and half duplex operations. Its powered by usb port and has external power support with 3 ports.It is compliant with (Windows 7,8,Xp Mac. The second adapter I chose was a ( Star tech ) from ( Startech.com) for a price of $ 23.99 that is usb powered and has a activity and link indicator it is( Windows / Mac and Linux) compatible .It also has cross over detection and auto correction.

Senario1 . I would recommend the first Switch that is a (Cisco) it isn’t super exspensive but yet is good enough to get the job done. Tom would save on cost but yet have reliable enough switch to handle the job.The adapter I would recommend would be the startech adapter it is usb powered and has and activity and indicator and also is (Windows /Mac/linux) compatible. It has crossover connection and auto correction. I would ask Tom what the budget is and what type work do the current networking devices perform.
