On-boarding is the process of accommodating and joining new members of team, whether they come from inside or outside the company. Effective on-boarding of new members is one of the major contributions to any Human Resources professional or hiring manager can make to long-standing success. When on-boarding is done correctly it will generate the new employees’ production and increase retention level (Rollag, K 2005). Human Resources professional or hiring manager must follow these steps to make sure that new employees have the appropriate things that require to be successful.

Preparing for the big day. Before the new employee joins the company the new employee’s workstation should be setup completely with accessories. Their new employee paperwork and all training material should be printed and ready. Appoint a veteran employee to greet the new hire to make them feel welcome.

Introduction of their supervisors and team should be conducted in first week of employment. Supervisors are there to answer questions and assist new employees get acquainted with their new co-workers.

Secondly establishing a plan of training and schedule. Creating a personalized training schedule to learn the position they were hired for and who will teach them. The trainer must provide the learning materials to the new hires so they can be prepared for daily training. Ensuring that the trainers block out their schedule so they can provide their full attention to training. New hires should have a clear understanding of their job expectations and duties. Clarifying the meaning of being vital team members and how the team works together. Giving the new hire tasks in their position will increase their productivity and allows the new hire to feel valuable in the company. Keeping the lines of communication open will help the new hire...
