This paper will discuss how the team charter is used as a tool, given the different characteristics of each team member and how they are used to improve team performance. Creating a team charter allows all members of a team to list their individual skills and characteristics to be collaboratively combined and analyzed as a whole. The charter also lists skills that need improvement. A set of goals is listed to provide a template for the team members to have a general direction in which to follow. Ground rules are established to maintain order and to provide agreed upon terms that the team members use to measure accomplishments and accountability.

When creating a team charter, many factors need to be considered in order to understand the characteristics of each team member; these factors include, but are not limited to personality types, listening skills, and trust levels. My current team is a compilation of many personality types, listening skills, and trust levels; all of which add diverse views and contributions to the team entity. One personality type the team possesses is ENTP, which represents extroverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. These characteristics relay into strong characteristics of innovation, strategic planning, and computer analytical skills; all of which add great value to the team. Another personality type that is part of the team is INFP, which differs from the previous type by being introverted and feeling, as opposed to extroverted and thinking, which is characteristic of being reserved, creative, and highly idealistic. The third personality type that the team possesses is INTP, which is similar to the INFP type, but differs only by being thinking instead of feeling. This type is characteristic of being socially cautious, enjoys problem solving, and is highly conceptual. The fourth personality type that is onboard with the team is ENTJ.
