1. Transportation In Logistics.

According to Wikipedia transportation is defined as the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another.A lot of people(me included) find it challenging to pin point the actual difference between transportation and logistics. It was not till recently, when I was doing the research for this essay, that I discovered the difference and thought of an easier way to interpret the difference. The way I see it; Transportation is the race car and logistics is the racer/driver in the seat of transportation.Logistics can be defined as the art and science of obtaining, producing and distributing material and products in the proper place and in proper quantities.

2. The Transportation System.

* On page 46 of our text book, we find that the transportation system is the physical link connecting a company’s customers, raw materials supplier, plants, warehouses, and channel members- which are known as the fixed points in a logistics supply chain.
