In this assignment I will provide the context of assessment Process and outline two categories
of psychological assessment, which are screening and diagnostic measures. I will also
propose one assessment to be included in the test battery. I will also discuss about
administration, interpretation of results and feedback.
The reason for Becky’s referral
Becky is four years and eleven months old. She was adopted as Xhosa speaking girl, and her
adoptive parents later realized that Becky was showing signs of development impairment.
According to tutorial letter 101 for Pyc 4807(2016,p.20) it is stressed that Becky was referred
Into speech and language therapy service by pediatrician at the clinic when she was three
years old, it was then revealed that she has a delay of 12 months in her speech and language
skills. Becky was referred to counselling psychologist because of her history of lack of
stimulation and neglect. She is characterised by shyness, overly introvert, lack of
communication with others, and normally uses few words whenever speaking.
The well-being of a child is determined by the functioning of emotional, social, cognitive and
physical development. If one area of development is experiencing problems, it can influence
the other areas. Becky is living with her adoptive parents and her home language is isiXhosa,
her developmental impairment might be caused by the socio cultural circumstances. She
might be struggling to adapt...
