WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Aline was a director of training and development at Consolidated Inc.. She now was assigned to curry out a corporate retreat to her employees. Before beginning, Aline chose five people to talk about their experiences from the first retreat as references to the new treat. However, she found there were so many morale and management problems in the company after the conversations.

Heather: she was an administrative assistant who preferred not to attend. She hated her boss because she thought the reason that she was overlooked was because her Chinese identity. However, she didn’t mention that she was taking off an unusually sick days before.

Jack: he was a manager of marketing who did not want to attend the retreat as well. He claimed that he was passed over for promotion just because he was black.

June: she was a manager of customer services who was not keen on attending the new retreat. She has already been tired to her work because of increasing workloads and traffic flow. The huge work pressure has already brought changes to her life.

Alison: she was a supervisor of employee who expressed reservation about attending. She didn’t agree with the inter-office dating. She think this behavior should not appear in the work place.

Richard: he was pleased to attend the retreat. In his opinion, such event can be beneficial for morale, employee relationships and management.
