COURSE OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this interdisciplinary course is to introduce the student to the tasks, strategies, and skills of effective leadership behavior. Course activities will move the student from theories to the practical processes of leadership. Basic course components include the concepts of successful collaboration and effective change making.

Course objectives include:

• The student will be able to recall the major concepts and principles discussed in LDRS 300 (first leadership course) and demonstrate an understanding of those concepts and principles through classroom activities.

• The student will understand the basic components of the change process and be able to practice change through a collaborative approach.

• The student will recognize the role both personal and collaboration skills play in the change process.

• The student will be able to recognize and understand the key components of the collaboration process.

• The student will be able to demonstrate and perform personal leadership skills and capabilities, including the ability to think critically and creatively, make decisions, and solve problems.

• The student will be able to demonstrate and perform collaborative leadership skills and capabilities, including the ability to successfully communicate, resolve conflict and work with others in group settings.

• The student will be able to develop a strategic plan to implement change.
