Is Equal Really Equal

The US women’s soccer team is the best soccer team in the world; winning the FIFA world cup 3 times, getting gold medal four times in the Olympic games, and ranked the number one team in the world. On the other hand the US men’s soccer team is not as successful as the women’s soccer team. The men’s soccer team has only made it to the semi finals in the world cup games, but that was back in 1930’s, they have won no titles in the Olympics, and are currently ranked twenty-ninth best team in the world. The women’s soccer team play on worse field conditions than men. The women’s soccer team has played on turf field, which could be extremely painful to fall on and slide tackle in. It is clearly obvious that the women’s soccer team is better than the men’s soccer team, even though they play on worse field conditions then men. When someone looks at statistics like these, they could assume that the women’s soccer team gets paid more that men’s soccer team, when in actuality the men’s soccer team gets paid significantly more than the women’s soccer team; women are paid almost forty times less the amount of their male counter part. Yet, the US claims that men and women are equal. The US women soccer team is one of the many examples of how women are being paid significantly less compared to men, and its not because they are working less then men; but distinctly because of gender. Even though America claims the people are completely equal between race, sex, and creed; women are still not given the rights they deserve. Women work just as hard as men, have laws that help women get equal pay, and the number in female works have increased but its still not reflecting in there pay.
