Kudler Fine Foods is an organic upscale food store that locally specializes in fresh bakeries, pastries, produce, meats and seafood. Other specialized products include packaged foods, cheeses and wines which enables this store to be a one stop shop for gourmet food. Kudler Fine Foods mission statement is to include grand gourmet products with grand customer service with a knowledgeable staff to make sure customers shopping experience is one that will not be forgotten (Kudler Fine Foods, Stategic Plan, 2003).

Kudler Fine Foods opened its first store in La Jolla, California in 1998. In 2000, the second store opened in Del Mar, followed by the opening of the Encinitas store in 2003. With future expansion on the horizon, various companies tend to upgrade their business information technology to suits the needs of today’s busy people. Many great companies do their business via the Internet and Kudler Fine Foods is looking to doing just that. Kathy Kudler, the founder of Kudler Fine Foods, would like to have a web-site by 2004 where people can order their goods and the business have e-commerce capabilities including inventory and a re-order system as inventory is being depleted through online orders (Strategic Plan, 2003, p. 15). The information technology in today’s world will be able to keep track of all products, inventory and order sales for the three stores and website making the work environment easier for employees.

Kudler Fine Foods is a business that needs to expand and be able to support its accounting needs at the same time. Kudler uses a network server that consists of four networking computers for each store location. The company software is very minimal for the size of this business.
