Ninjas!

Ninjas are specially trained warriors that are masters in a variety of unorthodox warfare. Some of these include espionage, assassination, illusion and a varying number of different martial arts.

Most scientists say that the date of origin when the first few ninja warriors started… well… “Ninja-ing”. It is said that it first originated in 14th century Japan, when Shoguns and Daimyos started needed their assistance for assassination, intimidation and guerrilla warfare.

The stereotypical outfit of a ninja back in Feudal Japan was a black outfit called a Shin obi Sozoku. They wore the typical boots that were in effect in Feudal Japan at that time, a split-toed design that improved rope climbing and gripping.

All the things ninjas had to be able to do require them to have specialized weapons such as gunpowder and smoke bombs and such. Some of these weapons included Ninjatos, Shobos, Kama, Nun chucks, Bokken, Sai, Wakizashi and even Tantos. But these are but only a few of the weapons that the ninja used.

Ninja scout’s are often employed to assess the ability of the enemy. Most of the time, the scouts would ride horses without detection.

Ninja’s are most well known for their assassination capabilities. The Daimyo were fearful of ninja assassination attempts as far back as the seventeenth century. At some time or another, all generals would be the victim of a ninja attack. However, there is no documentation that any of these attacks were successful. Because the ninja’s attacks were unsuccessfully, they became less feared throughout Japan. The Daimyo hired ninjas to kill their rivals, even though these attacks rarely succeeded. When people think of ninjas, it is the image of the assassin that is most often thought of.

Although the ninja is a mysterious figure dressed all in black, in reality they were just regular people trying to make a living. They had to develop many skills in order to survive the cold, hard time in Feudal Japan.
