Abstract
In the past the use of technology in a human resource department was limited. Today, the use of the web-based human resource systems allows human resource professionals to manage multiple work sites from one location. In addition to more advanced systems, HR professionals are turning to social media to recruit and perform background checks on future employees. This paper will discuss the use of data and social media in human resources.
Technology is changing and improving the daily tasks of human resource departments. In the past human resource technology was limited to mostly administrative tasks, but today human resource technology has helped human resource professionals in becoming more productive, effective, and error free. Human resource technology has also made it easier to recruit, train, keep track of working hours, payroll, and benefits. These systems have made it more convenient to track and store a companies important information. Since technology is constantly changing companies are looking for new trends, such as software-as-a-service (SaaS) for HR systems, social media, and the values of data in order to keep up with their competition.
