What we talked about in our discussion

This discussion was based on immigration which involved the whole class and lasted approximately 30 minutes. Within our discussion we established who immigrants are, why people immigrate to the UK and how they affect the day-to-day running of the UK. We also heard different view points from people in the class and they gave their reasons of why they were either for or against immigration.

How I contributed to the discussion and my opinion on immigration

I contributed to the discussion by giving my views on immigration and why I felt it was a good thing that people choose to immigrate to the UK. I expressed my feelings by saying my opinion to the class that immigrates can bring many advantages to our country as some of the most intelligent individuals bring their skills over to the UK. It increases diversity and expands the culture of the country and improves the overall image of the UK as it is seen as a friendly place to live in. It also gives people an opportunity for a better life.

The overall view on immigration as a class

The vast majority of the class was for immigration as they felt there were many advantages such as the improvement of the overall image of the UK, as it is seen as an open, welcoming country which will attract more people from different countries to move to the UK. It provides an opptunitiy for people to have a better life. There were many more points made of the advantages of immigration but the points made by the people that were against this changed the views towards immigration on some people as they gave very good points as of why immigrants bring more disadvantages into the country than advantages.
