Taylor published Principles of scientific management in 1911. He believed that scientific laws should be integrated with workplace environment. He suggested that workers of these workplaces would be more productive and effective after the implementation of the principles of scientific management into workplace.

Many reasons for inefficiency at a workplace were blamed on different groups of people by TAYLOR.

Managers Workers

Foreman

Managers:

Lack of Technical Education: workers knew more than the managers because they were involved with the machinery more than the managers.

Foreman:

Abuse of power: they would take advantage of the power and bribe to friends/ protect friends.

Workers:

Soldering workers working as slowly as possible so they can get the most money out of it and keep their jobs for a longer time.

Taylor wanted to fix the inefficiency issue and reach optimum production by applying these Aspects of Scientific Management

Time and Motion Study: Substitution of Science for individual judgment. Taylor was looking for the most efficient way of completing a task. He used stop watch study to determine the most sufficient way of completing a task. After finishing this study, this most efficient way would be written as a procedure for that task. This way, workers would have no individual judgment on how to perform a job but instead they would have to follow the procedure step by step. This helped taking the brain power from workers and giving them to managers.

Piece and Rate System: This system is also referred as award – punishment system. Workers would get paid accordingly how much product they’ve produced at the end of the day.

Scientific Selection of workmen: Assign workers according to their ability on machines. Workers would be...
