For many years, the United States has been faced with serious issues regarding drug trafficking, distribution, and abuse. While drug trafficking (and use) has been around for centuries in one form or another, drug trafficking as it is recognized today became prominent starting in the 1960s (eHow.com, 2011). As a result of trafficking, the US has also been faced with additional issues that include illegal distribution of these drugs, illegal use of these drugs, and addiction to these drugs by many Americans. The US has made countless efforts to end drug trafficking, none that have been 100 percent effective, but many that have helped. Although the US is making every effort to bring drug trafficking to an end, it has still caused many problems such as illegal distribution and use, and addiction, which may forever taunt our country.
Drug trafficking and use in some form or another has been around for many years, and in many places. However drug trafficking has not been very popular in the US until about the 1960’s. It is believed that drug trafficking originated in Afghanistan, but there is no information to support that.
